busy busy
Last week I was busy with lots of things. At school we were modelling new objects for the engine room. I have to say, I’m really getting the idea of low poly modelling. New objects are finished faster and I’m getting to understand the tricks in 3D Studio Max.
Wednesday we also had a party with KEES @ Club Noa which was a lot of fun. Pictures can be found here.
The next day we had to prepare a room for our “minor market” and our education fair at school. Lots of things to arrange but the room was awesome ;).
This week it’s all about modelling again. We’ve finished most of the models and tomorrow we will try to texture these and to het these models work in the game engine.
back once again…
The last few weeks I’ve forgotten to post here regularly. The problem is that I don’t have much to post. But I will tell you what we’ve done within our project the last few weeks.
Thursday October 19 we went to the “Maritiem Instituut” on Terschelling. We went there to see how the students work with the engine room. It was a great day and it was very motivating to see how the students use the engine room.

From that point we were very motivated and eager to start our project. The only thing we had to do was visit the ship which we will build and receive some maps of the ship. We made some good agreements with the people there and we thought there would be some progression soon.
But until now we haven’t received any maps and an appointment hasn’t been made :(.
In the mean time we’ve been upgrading some objects of the old engine room and we’ve trained our skills in 3DS Max.We’ve also produced some chapters for our project documentation. By this we were able to receive 4 European Credits today. Whoohoo!!
our project
Today I want to tell you something about our project for this period. From now till February we will build an 3D engine room for ‘NHL Maritiem Instituut’ located on Terschelling. This engine room will be build in 3D Studio Max and is using the game engine from Grendel Games. So this will be a real-time application in which students can train their skills at an engine room of a tanker.
Our project will be accompanied by 3 (ex) students who have build this engine room last year. They will supervise our work and help us where is necessary.
Last week we started with building some office equipment with 3D Studio Max and trying to put these in the game engine. So far, no success. But this problem will be solved by adjusting the game engine to 3D Studio Max 8.
So this week we will build some small props for the engine room and try putting these props in the game engine. We’re also going to Terschelling Thursday to watch the game in functioning. Hopefully tommorow, we will have new computers installed at our 3D community. Then we can go crazy modelling and work our ass off ![]()
